How to choose a tattoo font
Capitals for dates and numerals
Roman capitals like Cinzel suit dates, roman numerals, initials and short words set in all caps. Spacing the letters a little wider keeps each one distinct as the tattoo settles.
Mind the hairlines
High-contrast serifs such as Playfair Display pair thick stems with very thin strokes and serifs. Those thin parts are the first to soften over time, so give this kind of lettering more size than a simple sans — skin and placement matter as much as the font.
Style carries meaning
The same words read differently in a flowing script, a fraktur blackletter or a typewriter face. Pick the style for the feeling you want first, then compare two or three fonts inside it on your skin tone.
